Cycle Challenge results

The results are in for the Cheshire East Cycle Challenge which saw workplaces from across the borough taking part in a friendly competition during September.

More than 250 riders from 21 organisations signed up for the Cycle Challenge and logged all their rides for a month.

They included staff from Cheshire East Council as well as local employers such as Bentley Motors and South Cheshire College.

Riders taking part had the chance to win prizes including bikes, vouchers and holidays.

Our local winners across five categories’ of employer (based on size) were: Bentley Motors (500+ staff), South Cheshire College (200-499 staff), NHS Eastern Cheshire CCG (50-199 staff), Salary Exchange (20-49 staff), and South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce (seven-19 staff).

There were over 30 individual prize winners who received bikes, meals out, vouchers and cinema tickets. Four people won brand new bikes from Community Recycle Cycles in Crewe. The Challenge was a great way to help translate the legacy of the Tour of Britain into more people cycling across the region.

The challenge is run nationally by Love to Ride and other events are planned over the next few months aimed at encouraging more people to get out and about on their bikes.

Even though the month-long Cycle Challenge has finished, riders can continue to use the Cheshire East section of the Love to Ride website – lovetoride.net/cheshireeast – to log their bike rides and track their progress throughout the year.

In November Love to Ride is planning a new promotion to encourage cyclists to log their rides during the cold and dark months of winter. Keep an eye out on the Travel Cheshire website for details when they are announced.
